Things to do in Truro
Truro has been in existence since the Bronze Age. It was at this time Truro was established where the three rivers Kenwyn, Allen and Glasteinan converge to form the Truro river. Truro has always been a busy port and today is a business and administrative centre.
Truro offers the best shopping in Cornwall with so much choice and variety. The Cathedral stands beside the elegant Methodist Chapel, and a fine 1960s Roman Catholic Church, a Friends Meeting House, and a Baptist Church using the ancient former Lake's Pottery in Chapel Hill are nearby.
With a number of other faiths and denominations all meeting in Truro it is a spiritual centre and, with five junior, two secondary, two public schools and two ‘prep' schools, as well as the excellent Truro FE College, Truro is an educational centre too. It links quickly via the Falmouth branch line with two of Cornwall's university campuses at Penryn and Falmouth.
Truro has so much things to do for anyone who visits.
Truro has some of the most amazing parks and gardens. Always a bustling town you will find a shady place to enjoy Truro nature at its best. Truro takes pride in its parks and gardens and regularly enter the Britain in Bloom competition where they have won several prizes.
Some of the parks and gardens that are a must see include:
Victoria Gardens - This garden was originally created to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. the garden has a beautiful bandstand and fountain and during the summer months the garden is host to some great musical concerts.
Boscawen Park - Situated on the banks of the Truro River along the road to Malpas, Boscawen Park also plays host to concerts and outdoor events in the summer.
Hendra Play area - If you are visiting Truro with your family then this park is perfect for families. There is plenty of colourful play equipment for the kids to play with and adjoining the park is the new skate park which has a great range of jumps, pipes and steps for beginners and professionals.
Truro also offers a range of other exciting and wonderful attractions including museums, churches, Galleries, Theatre and Bowling and cinema attractions.
